MR. KINGSLEY AWUKA OF LEGAL PRACTICE DISCOURSE (LPD) EMERGES CHAIRMAN, AS NBA, NNEWI BRANCH CONCLUDES ITS 2020 BRANCH ELECTIONS

Mr Kingsley Awuka, an Nnewi, Anambra State-based Legal Practitioner and prominent member of Legal Practice Discourse (LPD), has emerged the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nnewi Branch. The 2020 Electoral Committee for Nnewi NBA Branch declared Mr Awuka winner at the conclusion of 2020 edition of the biennial elections of the Branch, on 26 June 2020. Only the office of the Chairman and that of the Welfare Secretary were contested. All the others were returned unopposed. For the office of the Chairman, Mr. 
Kingsley Awuka polled 74 votes to defeat his rival, Mr. A A Igwebuike who secured 3 votes. In respect of the office of the Welfare Secretary, Solomon A Ezugwu pulled 71 votes to defeat P. I. Akabuogu who had 4 votes

Members of the Electoral Committee were Chikaodili Nwogwugwu (Chairman), U.C Eugha (Secretary), Mrs. Okwy Igwegbe, J.N Obi and E. A. Okoye-Igwilo.

At the end of the elections, the following Branch members emerged the Branch`s new Executive Council Members, to pilot the affairs of the Branch for the next two years:
  1. Mr Kingsley Awuka     -- Chairman,
  2. Obinna N. Obah           -- Vice Chairman,
  3. Chinedu D. Igwegbe    -- Secretary, 
  4. Emmanuel E. Onedibe  - Assistant Secretary, 
  5. Uchenna P. Igwe           -- Social Secretary, 
  6. Amara G. Okaro          -- Treasurer 
  7. Solomon A. Ezugwu   -- Welfare Secretary.

The elected officials were immediately thereafter sworn in by Mr. Ike Obeta, a Notary Public, who happens to be the most senior member of the Branch. 

The new Chairman, Mr Kingsley Awuka succeeds Mr Paschal Ugwuanyi, also a member of the Legal Practice Discourse, who  successfully led the Branch from 2018 to June 2020.
