KEEP FAITH WITH THE ELECTORAL PROCESS; WE WILL LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED TO ENSURE FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS, NBA ASSURES LAWYERS

e leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by Mr Paul Usoro, SAN, has assured Nigerian lawyers and all candidates in the forthcoming National Officers' Elections, that the NBA leadership will leave no stone un-turned in ensuring a free and fair national officers' election. Speaking through its Assistant National Publicity Secretary, the NBA leadership enjoined all members to have faith in this ongoing electoral process, even as the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA) continues to enjoy the support and confidence of the NBA leadership.

NBA 2020 ELECTIONS: COURT DISMISSES ADESINA OGUNLANA'S APPLICATION FOR INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTION

 

The High Court of Lagos State earlier on Friday, July 24, 2020, dismissed an application for injunction filed by Mr. Adesina Ogunlana in Suit No: ID/4015GCM/2020 between Adesina Ogunlana and Incorporated Trustees of Nigerian Bar Association and 5 Ors, wherein the applicant sought an order of court restraining the NBA from conducting the elections slated for 29th-30th of July, 2020 without including his name on the ballot as a presidential candidate.

 

The Incorporated Trustees of the NBA, sued as 1st Defendant, was represented by the Chairman of NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL), Dr. Paul Ananaba, SAN. The NBA President, Paul Usoro, SAN and the General Secretary, Jonathan Gunu Taidi, joined as 2nd and 3rd Defendants respectively, were represented by Rotimi Seriki, Esq, while Samuel Agweh, SAN held the brief of the Chairman and Secretary of the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA) who were joined as the 5th and 6th Defendants in the said suit. The NBA places on record its deep appreciation for the services of these fine counsel in defending our association pro bono.

 

The NBA leadership wishes to assure members that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring a free and fair national officers' election. Members are therefore enjoined to keep the faith with the ongoing electoral process, even as the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA) continues to enjoy the support and confidence of the NBA leadership.
